The Song House
Donegal, Ireland
Itinerary at a Glance:
Day 1: Arrive at The Song House for check-in at 3 pm. Settle into the beautiful surroundings, and behold the view of Muckish mountain to the east. Meet your fellow singers and enjoy a nourishing welcome dinner, followed by an evening song circle.
Day 2: After a hearty breakfast, start your retreat off with a heart-opening singing session. Sit in the sun with a freshly prepared lunch, then enjoy some afternoon free time before the evening's activity. In the evening, we’ll be treated to a special song workshop with authentic Donegal Irish seán-nos singers (an old Irish traditional way of singing).
Day 3: Stretch out with an optional sunrise walk before breakfast, and sink into our morning song circle. In the afternoon, enjoy some free time or optional group activities including a boat trip to a spectacular Donegal island. After a nourishing dinner, more singing with Mila around the fire, with the sun setting upon the “Seven Sisters” mountain range.
Day 4: Continue your morning's singing with Mila after a hearty breakfast, followed by a peaceful lunch in the garden. In the afternoon, enjoy some free time or optional group activities including a hike up to the summit of Mukish mountain for a panorama view of all of Northwest Ireland. In the evening, we’ll circle up around the central hearth for some fireside storytelling of local Irish myths and folklore, with Donegal storyteller.
Day 5: With full bellies from breakfast, we’ll make our way to the beach for a morning song circle by the sea. Another afternoon of free time for rest, relaxation, or optional group activities. In the evening, more singing with Mila, or an optional Ceilidh with traditional Irish music at the famous Hudi Beag’s pub.
Day 6: Our final day together will start with a singing session after breakfast, followed by a hearty lunch and a chance to rest before our “Grand Finale” - the best weekly Ceileidh in Donegal, as the locals say. We’ll make our way there for late afternoon, where we’ll be invited to share a song with the community as a token of our gratitude for a week well-spent.
Day 7: Say our goodbyes after breakfast, before a mid-morning lift back to Falcarragh.
